Thank you for taking a moment to learn about Schäfer-Reichart Selections (SRS). We are an importer and wholesaler of fine German wine. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, we specialize in Riesling from the Mosel Valley, the world's largest contiguous Riesling growing area.
I am the founder, Christian Schäfer. I was born in the historic wine producing town of Bernkastel-Kues, and developed a passion for wine while growing up in the heart of the Mosel Valley in Germany. I have great memories of cultivating the famously steep vineyards and crafting the wine with my parents and grandparents – I have spent more than thirty years absorbing all the details of the wine making (and enjoying!) process in and around Bernkastel-Kues.
Having received the best possible hands-on
education in Wine Engineering from my family, I decided my time at
the Technical Universities of Hamburg, Braunschweig and Rhode Island would be better spent pursuing a joint Dipl.-Ing. and Master
of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. After working in North America and Europe for several years, I accepted an engineering position with an American Company and moved to Los Angeles. No matter where I went, the love of Riesling was a constant in my life and in early 2007, I founded Schäfer- Reichart
Selections with plans to import quality labels from the splendid Mosel estates.
While I can see some well established estate labels from home being distributed by a few fellow Riesling enthusiasts, in general I have been surprised at the limited availability of quality Riesling in America, especially California.
Estate vineyards in Germany pride themselves on producing high quality Rieslings, each with its own distinctive personality. This labor-intensive process lends itself to limited production. Schäfer-Reichart Selections is dedicated to bringing you the finest Rieslings that Germany has to offer.

Back in Germany, my family and I select the wines utilizing decades of experience with the unique terroir and microclimate found only in the Mosel Valley.
